The Classic Age of River Travel Reborn ...

River Wren is a totally new concept in houseboat hire. It is a conventional mono-hull, just 11m. long with a 3m. beam, and aimed squarely at the single family - one couple end of the market.

Under normal cruising, the Honda 4-stroke is barely audible at 3,000 rpm., and of course there are no fumes or vibrations.

A lot of thought and experience has gone into the design of River Wren, nowhere more obviously than the interior. Conceived and built locally, the Wren can sleep up to six adults, has both toilet and bathroom, a kitchen complete with 4-burner gas range and 90 litre 'fridge - separate pumps for hot and cold water ensure equal pressure for both.

There is a radio/CD player, TV and video recorder, even two smoke alarms. Ample storage space is found under all bunks and seats.

A large, curtained double berth is located to starboard at the back of the saloon, opposite a single berth. Immediately forward of the double berth is a comfortable settee and table, which can convert into a double berth. Ahead of the helm station is a clever sette, the full width of the front screen. This too doubles as a single berth and has storage underneath. Someone has put a lot of time into selecting the colour coordinated materials that make the interior of 'River Wren' such a pleasant, comfortable place to be.

The helm station offers a commanding view of the river, both ahead and alongside. Small windows atop the windscreen can be opened to give a gentle breeze if desired. The two sliding doors, just back from the 'screen, give immediate, easy access to the fully-railed decks.

At the stern on River Wren there is a barbecue, gas bottles, several chairs and a huge, white eski. This is best filled with block ice under crushed, and will keep goodies cold for a week.
